Central City Co-Op is a Modern-Day Cooperative

We are owned and operated by and for the members of Central City Co-op, in order that we can obtain the freshest organic and sustainable produce and local food items at reasonable prices. We do our best to support local farms and growers first and work with an organic distributor second to guarantee there is a full selection of produce.

Show your investment in your local community by becoming a member today. There are several different membership types available. Members participate in the co-op by voting on various topics, participating in the organization by volunteering or generally supporting the organization through their purchases.

There are many ways to become a Co-Op Member

• Annual memberships. Annual memberships run from January 1 through December 31st and are renewable each year. Currently, Annual memberships are $48 a year. Act now and you'll get membership for 2010, plust the rest of 2009 for free!
  
  
• Lifetime memberships. Lifetime membership is a one-time fee and is available to anyone. A lifetime membership is available for a one-time fee of $1000.

  Volunteer memberships. Credit toward annual membership fees will be awarded to members volunteering in the cooperative for 18 hours, thereby earning your membership through "sweat equity".
  

Co-Op Membership Benefits

• Produce Specials: Regularly, the Co-op will have special discounts for members to purchase fresh produce or dry goods at a discounted rate.
  
  
• Voting Rights: Members of the Co-op are asked to participate in the voting and election processes for managing the co-op. There is a yearly members meeting that is open to all members.
  
  
• Discounts from other service providers: Members are offered discounted services through other local service providers, such as massage therapists. You must be a member to qualify for these discounts.
  
  
• Shop for Free: As a member, you always shop for free. Otherwise, there is a "Dollar Day Pass" that must be purchased every time you shop the open market.

MEMBER FAQs

Q. My wife and I signed up a couple of weeks ago to be members of your co-op and we have not received our information packet or anything. We wrote a check for the membership amount over to a lady who wrote down our information and said that she would send it to us and we would get it in a week or so. What gives?

A. New members are assimilated to the rolls on a weekly basis, but currently we only have the person-power to send welcome letters once a month! We are working to add additional volunteer staffing in this area. Please pardon our growing pains.

Q. I want to support the Co-op by purchasing a membership. Do I have to pay $48 when there are only 5 months left in the year?

A. No. Starting in July we reduce our membership fee to $24 for our half year rate. When it gets close to the end of the year, we sell memberships for the following year and just throw in the last few week of the current year as a bonus.

A Fun & Useful Present!

The easiest way to give a membership as a gift is come to our Wednesday market at Grace Lutheran and fill out the membership application for the person receiving the gift.

We will need the intended member's contact information and your credit card information at that time. We can provide a gift certificate and/or a welcome letter to your recipient.
