Who we are

Imagine communities of people coming together each week in different parts of the city around high quality organic food!

This was the dream of Jennifer Georgantas and Patricia Greer in September, 2001, which became Central City Co-op. With the help of numerous volunteers both then and now, the dream has become a reality!

Our mission is for everyone to have access to organic food at reasonable prices, and imagine that there will be partner co-ops throughout the city that provide locally grown high quality organic produce to people on a weekly basis! We offer as much produce as possible from local sources that embrace the practice of compassionate and chemical-free growing.

Q. What are the founders doing now?

A. Patricia Greer bustles around in her raw food kitchen, making treats and delights. Check it out at http://www.patriciagreerskitchen.com Jenn is raising kids (and Cain) and selling wild caught shrimp at a local farmers market near you.

Q. Is the co-op a 501cs? What is its "status"?

A. Central City Co-op is delighted to be a Texas Not-For-Profit Corporation serving our community. We don't qualify for IRS 501 c3 status because of our large retail activities (selling veggies to you!), but we still do significant work educating folks about veggie goodness and the importance of good environmental stewardship. We love our volunteers and we depend on your donations, but unfortunately we can't offer you tax deductions for helping us. But you know you're doing it just for love anyway, right?
